The Derevolutions Cover 60s Hit Agua de Beber.

The Derevolutions are a Boston-based recording project consisting of Ana Karina da Costa and Brett Boucher. “Agua de Beber” is a bossa nova standard composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim with lyrics by Vinivius de Moraes, first released on a Phillips 78 rpm record in 1961. Brazilian vocal star Astrud Gilberto’s first rendition was released in 1965 and served as the touchstone for The Derevolutions (check it out here). Aside from Brazilian-American Ana Karina’s exquisite vocal performance in loveliest Portuguese, the new arrangement in a contemporary psych idiom should appeal to readers of WTSH. The Derevolutions’ three albums are available for free download via their Facebook page, and the project offers some cool merch here.
